Flu Buster Smoothie

For stuffy heads, runny noses, fevers, and sore throats

1 cup fresh orange juice
1 cup quartered fresh strawberries
3/4 cup diced papaya
1 frozen banana, sliced

Combine the orange juice and strawberries in a blender. Add the papaya and banana. Blend until smooth. (Can be stored in freezer in plastic self-sealing bags for up to 1 week. Thaw for 30 to 45 minutes before serving)

When I had the flu, I made myself this smoothie. I took it at bedtime, and by morning I felt so much better! I didn't even have to call the doctor.

Fact: Orange juice, strawberries, and papaya all contain vitamin C, the best cure for any sickness

Herbal Ginger Brew

For stomach cramps, indigestion, flatulence, and nausea

Syrup:
1/2 cup peeled and sliced fresh ginger
1 cup purified water
1/2 cup pure maple syrup

1 cup carbonated mineral water
1 tablespoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 strip of lemon peel

For syrup:
Combine the sliced ginger and water and simmer for 30 minutes. Cool slightly, then strain. Add the maple syrup and stir to mix.

Stir 2 tablespoons of the syrup into the carbonated water until thoroughly mixed; refrigerate the remainder of the syrup for later use (can be kept in fridge for up to 6 months). Add the lemon juice and stir. Garnish with the lemon peel.

I made this for my grandmother when she had indigestion. She said it worked like a charm.

Fact: Ginger has been found effective in multiple studies for treating nausea caused by seasickness, morning sickness, and chemotherapy. Ginger is a safe remedy for nausea relief during pregnancy.

Hot Milk With Cayenne Pepper

For sore throats, stuffy noses, colds, and flus.

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 cup milk

Place milk in saucepan and leave on medium heat until bubbles begin to form around the edge (about 2-3 minutes). Take off heat and pour into mug. Mix in the cayenne pepper. Drink through straw (cayenne pepper can make your lips peel, so drinking through a straw prevents that from happening).

When I had a sore throat, I drank this before I went to bed. By the next morning my throat felt so much better, and after a couple of days, my sore throat was gone altogether. Drink one glass a day, preferably before you go to bed.

Fact: Cayenne pepper is known to kill all types of bacteria
